What a new installation includes
- A survey of your signal so we choose the right aerial, not just the cheapest
- A new aerial, mast and bracket fitted to the chimney, wall or in the loft
- Low-loss, double-screened cable with proper weatherproof connections
- Alignment to the strongest transmitter for your exact address
- A full retune and signal test on every TV you want connected
- Old aerial and packaging taken away
Roof, wall or loft?
Roof or chimney gives the best signal in most of Edinburgh and is the default for houses and top-floor flats.
Wall mounted on a gable or rear wall works when a chimney isn't suitable or access is easier.
Loft aerials keep the roofline clean, which suits new-build estates and conservation areas. They need a reasonable signal to start with, so we test first and tell you honestly whether a loft aerial will work at your address.
Flats and tenements
In a tenement or block of flats you often share a communal aerial. If that's the case, the fix may be in the shared system rather than a new aerial for your flat. We work on communal systems too and can deal with your factor or neighbours if needed. See communal TV systems.
New aerials, upgrades and digital aerials
- New installations for homes that have never had an aerial or need one in a new position
- Aerial upgrades to replace old, rusted or narrow-band aerials that struggle with today's Freeview frequencies

TV aerial installation: common questions
How long does a new aerial installation take?
A standard roof or wall installation is usually done in a couple of hours. Multi-room setups or difficult access take longer, and we will tell you when we quote.
Do I need planning permission for a TV aerial?
Normally no. Listed buildings can be different, so if your property is listed we will advise on the most discreet position, such as the loft or a rear elevation.
Will a new aerial get me more channels?
If your current aerial is old, damaged or the wrong type, yes. A modern wideband aerial aligned correctly should receive all the Freeview multiplexes available at your address.
Is the installation guaranteed?
Every new aerial installation comes with a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour.
How much does a new TV aerial cost?
It depends on the aerial type, the roof pitch and style of your property, and how much cable is needed. We give you a free, fixed-price quote before any work starts.
Can you replace my old aerial?
Yes. Old aerials can be replaced and upgraded to a modern digital aerial for a stronger, more reliable picture.
