Sky dish realignment in Edinburgh

A few millimetres of movement is enough to lose satellite signal. We realign the dish with a meter, tighten or replace the bracket so it stays put, and check every tuner on your box.

Why dishes move

Edinburgh's wind is the usual cause, especially on exposed gable walls and top-floor flats. Brackets also loosen as fixings corrode, and dishes get nudged by window cleaners, roofers and scaffolders.

We don't just point the dish back. We check the fixings, replace anything rusted, and peak the signal on a meter so there's enough margin to ride out rain.

What to check first

Look at the dish from outside. If it's obviously pointing in a different direction from your neighbours', or hanging at an angle, it needs realigning. If it looks fine, the fault may be the LNB or the cable instead, which we cover under satellite dish repairs.

Sky dish realignment: common questions

Can I realign the dish myself?

It is possible but hard without a meter, and working at height is risky. A professional realignment is quick and leaves a much stronger signal margin.

Will the signal come back if I wait?

If the dish has physically moved, no. A temporary loss during very heavy rain or snow can return on its own, but frequent dropouts usually mean the dish needs peaking.
